I don’t mean anything condescending by putting Bethesda, Devolver Digital and the PC Gaming Shower in the same blog post, I just don’t have enough to say about those 3 for them to deserve their own separate posts. They’re just not as big as EA, Ubisoft and the Big 3.
Let’s talk about Bethesda first.
The company behind Elder Scrolls and Fallout is doing another E3 Press Conference this year. However, I don’t think we’ll see either of those at E3 2017. If I remember correctly, they even said so themselves.
They did tease 2 new projects being announced in their announcement for the Press Conference. Considering the teases we also got last year, I think nobody is going to be surprised to see a new Wolfenstein by Machine Game. The New Order had one of the best first-person shooter campaign of recent years so I’m very excited about a new one. A lot of people are also expecting a sequel to The Evil Within, the latest IP from Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil fame. The first game was not so warmly received, but I’m sure that by fixing some of the issues people had with it, the second game can surpass it magnificently.
We’ll probably get more something about Quake Champions, just because they need to talk about it now that it’s in beta. They recently released the Morrowind expansion for Elder Scrolls Online so I don’t think we’ll hear about the MMO at the Press Conference.
And please, no overly, constantly screaming woman this year in the audience… my poor ears.
“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?” _Mysterious Screaming Woman in the Audience.
Next, the PC Gaming Show.
… I honestly don’t know what to say. I didn’t watch it last year from beginning to end because 3 hours was asking for a bit much. All I can really expect is talk of PC ports, maybe a few PC only games and some hardware talk. Pretty much the same way last year went.
Now we have a new challenger. Devolver Digital.
An Indie Publisher having a E3 Press Conference. This is unprecedented and exactly why I’m excited for it. They haven’t given an exact date yet which is sort of odd considering we are less than 2 weeks away from E3.
As far as what they could announce… well, anything! They are a Indie publisher, they do not develop game themselves. There’s literally no way to tell what games they could announce. The possibilities are endless! And that only makes the press conference more exciting to me. So I’m looking forward to seeing some interesting indie games for about an hour.
And those are my expectations for Bethesda, Devolver Digital and the PC Gaming Show. As I warned at the beginning of the post, I really didn’t have a lot to say about them.
Next time though, we get into the really good stuff. We’ll look at Sony, then Nintendo…
